The year 2011-2012 has been a year of achievement for Saraswati International School. This Annual Report is a part of a commitment to greater transparency and accountability in every aspect of school life.

 

The last few years have seen a sea change in the way the school thinks and plans for the future. Saraswati has ambitious plans for the future and we need the support of everyone who cares for the school in order to make them a reality.

 

We are proud to have a good struggling teachers’ team, working for the upcoming of this temple of learning since its inception.  As the institution grew many teachers and other staff members have joined the Saraswati family to give it their best. We salute all the staff membersfor their continuous support.

 

Essential conditions:

 

Our school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) with the affiliation number is 430066 and the school No:13029. The school is managed by Saraswati Educational Trust, Mumbai. The teacher student ratio is 1:30. The school has adequate land with an excellent play ground.

Class rooms: The school has 66 well furnished class rooms with necessary electrical fittings and provision for various technology aided learning equipment and also 15 other rooms for various activities.

 

Science Stream for Senior Secondary Classes:

Subjects are offered in the following three combinations with English Core being compulsary. 

  • Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology
  • Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Information Practices
  • Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science

Commerce Stream for Senior Secondary Classes:
Subjects are offered in two combinations with English Core being compulsary. 

  • Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics and Information Practices
  • Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics and Mathematics

Computer Labs:

  • 2 Computer Labs with 21 computers in each lab.  Every PC is connected with LAN.

Science Labs: Physics, Chemistry & Biology

  • SIS can brag of impeccable and well maintained science labs, namely, the Physics, Chemistry and Biology which are mostly used by the senior students. These are fully equipped with every kind of modern apparatus required for the AISSCE Practical Examination as prescribed by the Central Board Secondary Education. The labs are also well stocked with models (still and working), charts and other specimens required for the proper understanding of the Science subjects and Computers.

Physics Lab:

The school has well equipped Physics lab, especially for the classes IX-XII students. The lab has all the necessary equipments and apparatus. The practicals are done as per the schedule planned and displayed in the lab.

 

 

 

 








 

Chemistry Lab:

The Chemistry lab has the following facilities:

  1. The laboratory has all the non consumables required for practicals up to higher secondary stage.
  2. The lab is having chemical and electronics balances.
  3. Gas supply is provided on every working table.
  4. Students from class IX-XII are using the lab.







 


Biology Lab:

The Biology lab is well equipped with all the basic facilities for the students upto Class XII. We have a very good collection of bottled specimens, prepared slides, stuffed materials, charts, etc. Our lab is also enriched with microscope, PH meter, original human skeleton, etc. All these materials are arranged systematically inside the lab and are within the reach of the students.

 










Audio Visual Room

A special audio visual room has been introduced to improve the teaching-learning process.

 

Facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Games:

Indoor:        Table Tennis, Chess & Carrom,
Outdoor:      Volley Ball Court, Football Ground, Kabaddi and tracks for athletic events, Kho-Kho Ground, Hand ball Ground, Cricket Pitch, Badminton Court & Field events.

  • CCA Activities:

CCA scheduled on Fridays for various Inter House Competitions in each category (Primary-A and B, Middle-C, secondary & senior secondary-D).

Additional Activities:

  • Field Trips:

Our students enjoyed the educative and informative field trips this year to religious places of Valsad, Leela Mohan Organic farms, Atul, Parle industries Silvassa, Balaji Wafer industries, Valsad, Save Farms Dehri and met Shri Bhaskar Save a President awarded for organic farming. They also visited Anuradha Silks and Microne suitings, Umbergaon, Maa Foundation, Vapi, Daman Ganga Industries, Vapi and interacted with Mr. Tushar Shah. This initiative is to give more exposure to the students.

  • Nature Camps: 

72 students participated in a 3 day Nature Education camp at Vansda National Park, Waghai during Diwali vacations

  • Guidance Sessions, seminars and counseling sessions:
  • A guidance session on 30th March 2011 was organized for the parents of Std X students seeking Std XI admissions and followed by a session as a positive interaction.
  • A guidance session in Aug 2011 for the parents of Std XII was organized to guide them to develop a stress free atmosphere for their upcoming Board Exams, tackling adolescent behavior, tips regarding exam preparation, etc.
  • Sept 2011: Counseling session for some parents to deal with problems of growing children in nuclear family, behavioral aspects, stress, over expectation and managing child’s playtime and entertainment was conducted in school by Dr. Lavanya Patel – a child psychologist.
  • June 2011: Seminar on ‘Time Management & Goal setting’ by Mr. Akshay Vakil, Rotary Club, Valsad
  • July 2011: Seminar on Environmental awareness by Mr. Tushar Shah an internationally recognized environmentalist from Vapi
  • Nov 2011: Seminar on Eye, Dental care and Skin care by Dr Yagnesh Desai, Dr. Neha Agrawal and Dr. Pinesh Modi respectively in association with Lioness Club of Bulsar.
  • Dec 2011: Seminar, aptitude test and career counseling session for Stds X & XII by Mr. Umesh Tailor & team from Maa Foundation, Vapi

Conclusion:

In general, 2011-2012 was a good year for SIS, with continuing significant improvements in many aspects of the school life. There has been a well-qualified and committed staff and a diverse student’s body experiencing a distinctive and broad programme of education. The next academic year is full of new hopes and challenges to which SIS and its unique and ever changing students can make its distinctive contribution.
